Week 5- I Am So Angry!
Series: Jonah
Jonah Week 5
Jonah was a man with deep anger in his soul. Angry that he was inconvenienced; angry that the people of Nineveh still exist; angry that he was uncomfortable and hot; angry toward people and towards God. This anger and rage was eating Jonah up inside and making him miserable. One of the struggles of mankind in general and men specifically is that of anger. What does the Bible say about anger? How do we control it? How do we stop allowing it to control us?

    Jonah Week 4

Jonah willfully disobeyed God because of his own pride and prejudice toward the Assyrians as a people group.  He put his own opinions, experiences, and personal feelings ahead of God's will and plan for him and the people of Nineveh.   What does prejudice look like in your life?

    Jonah Week 3

Jonah was the bearer of bad news to the wicked people of Nineveh. In 40 days the city and its inhabitants would be destroyed because of their evil ways. Scripture says that upon hearing this news the people “believed God”. They mourned, fasted, and most importantly—they repented. God met their passionate pleas and contrite hearts with compassion. The good news is that God saves! “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9) What really does God mean when he says to “repent”?

Week 2- The Call of God
    Series: Jonah
    Jonah Week 2
Jonah was a prophet of God.  As such, when he was called to fulfill that calling and disobeyed he was going directly against his calling...that of a prophet.  What is God's calling for each of our lives (specific and general)? The reality is there are specific things we are all called to do as believers and then there are specific things God calls for us to do individually.  Christians spent a tremendous amount of time thinking, praying and seeking to understand God's calling and there is a great deal of misunderstanding about what our 'calling' truly is.  In this message Pastor Scott will address this topic of God's calling on our lives.

Jonah was a man who knew God and could recognize His voice. Though Jonah was a prophet of God he had his own idea on how to live his life. The Bible says that upon hearing the word of the Lord and God’s plan for him that instead of obeying; Jonah ran away from the Lord. We often do likewise; we run from the Lord and fall away from Him. Instead of enjoying His presence and doing His will, we find ourselves doing our own ‘thing’. God is faithful even when we are not faithful; He pursues us, loves us, and restores us!
